Emergency Restore of an Archive


This section describes how to restore an archive rapidly, by transporting a copy of the hosted archive on site, and restoring the data locally. This method is helpful for speeding the restore of large archives as internet bandwidth limitations are bypassed.

Copy the Archive to Portable Storage

Archive directories are organized on your Host by UserName, with a subfolder for Computer. The assigned identification codes for the UserName and Computer are used. You can view these ids online under on the Hosted User page. For example, the archive for user acme@domain.com on computer ACME_SERVER may be found in the folder 59325\43254.

  • Copy the data from the hosted archives area to your portable storage. Make sure you include all files and folders, including hidden files and folders. For example, if your Host archive folder is G:\TS and your portable storage is on Z:, and using the ACME_SERVER example above, you would copy the data G:\TS\59325\43254 to Z:

Perform On Site Restore

  • Go to the computer you want to restore. Connect the portable storage to this computer.
  • Using a web browser, obtain the encryption key for this user by going to http://www.truesafe.net/AcctMgtViewKey. Note- It is critical that you Sign In using the same User Name TrueSafe is using on this computer, to ensure you obtain the correct encryption key.
  • Install the TrueDecrypt utility and launch it. If you don't have this utility, contact support for download instructions.
  • Browse to the source location on the portable storage. Choose the restore destination. Enter the encryption key. Click Decrypt to begin decryption and restoration of the data.
  • Verify the data by viewing some of the data files.
